Over 71 acres of Shinrin Yoku-inspired west coast alpine living looking east over the Gulf Islands and the Cascade Mountain Range, a picturesque 1,100 feet (350 meters) above sea level. Backed by Mount Maxwell Provincial Park’s 1,100 hectares of old-growth wilderness to the west, this serene landscape of over 300 distinctive planted trees, rolling meadows of wildflowers, and statue-guarded trails is a paradise of seasonal plenty.
Soak in autumn’s kaleidoscope of leaves, glide or tromp cross-country through snow drifted meadows on skis and snow shoes, or streak across one of four pristine mountain ponds on ice skates in the hush of winter. Explore a vast landscape of western Canadian alpine on horseback, mountain bike or foot. Forage for mushrooms, or harvest fruits in the hillside apple and plum orchard for cider or brandy. Till the manor-side garden, and collect sweet honey through the spring and summer care of the established on- site apiary.
Originally built in 1994 and fully renovated in 2019, Zauberberg Manor is completely encircled by lavender and clover. This elegant, French country style abode is a fitting crown to the surrounding Julie Andrews worthy hillside. Blessed with panoramic, bird’s-eye views of the Southern Gulf and San Juan Islands, the Salish Sea, Mount Baker, Vancouver and Washington State, this residence is a delightful marvel of subtle modernity.
Here, massive windows usher in a 180-degree islandscape illuminating vaulted ceilings and hardwood floors, while wood and gas-fueled hearths warm multiple lounge areas. The expansive kitchen/dining room, with its views of the central courtyard and the island below is fitted with a Miele Dishwasher, Sub-Zero Fridge, and Wolf Dual Fuel Range stove that will make any aspiring chef or home cook smile.
Surrounding these central common areas, six bedrooms and a top floor master suite with walk-in closet and private living room all enjoy minimum three-piece ensuite bathrooms and views of the surrounding hillside or ocean. Equipped for peak health, the residence is fitted with a full UV treatment/water softener system fed by a new well with 2,000 gallon cistern.
